Disk Cleanup

Still not going to mention the season!  But I am going to continue the "Seasonal" cleaning theme.

Cleaning up that disk!  Through normal daily use, your pc will "collect" various bits and pieces of data that it thinks you might want to refer back to at a later date.  This may or may not be the case.  These can include downloaded program files, Temporary internet files, your Recycle Bin, other Temporary files, Log files when you have installed or uninstalled something and Error log files.

Every now and again they need to be cleared out.  Now is as good a time as any to get on with this.

If you click on the windows icon in the bottom left of your screen you will get a list of the programs that run on your system.

Click on Accessories, then on the system tools. Select the item on the list called Disk Cleanup.
It will ask you which disk you would like to clean up.  I would recommend doing all, but minimum should be the drive where Windows is installed, which is usually the C:\ drive. Then a window like the one below will appear.

As you can see I have rather a lot of stuff here in my temporary files and my Recycle Bin.  By selecting all the boxes I can regain almost 5.5GB of disk space.
You can see what files are included by selecting any of the items and clicking on the View Files.  That way you can see what it is you are deleting.
Once there is a check mark in each of the boxes click on the default option of OK.

Windows, as always, asks Are You Sure? !!

Yes you are sure, so Delete those files and regain some HDD space.
